FRANCES CAROLYN WILBURN POE

Frances Carolyn Wilburn Poe, 79 of Bastian, VA, passed away Wednesday, January 08, 2020 in Leesburg, VA. Frances was the daughter of the late George and Hazel Nash Wilburn. She graduated from Graham High School in 1958 and subsequently received an associate's degree from Bluefield College. Prior to retiring to provide childcare, she was an administrative assistant at Reliance Electric in Bluefield, WV. She was a member of the Pine Grove United Methodist Church in Bastian, VA. Frances played the piano and loved singing along to all styles of music, especially gospel hymns and Elvis. She enjoyed following the Bluefield and Baltimore Orioles baseball, Jeff Gordon NASCAR racing, catching trophy-sized fish at Smith Mountain Lake and bowling. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Poe.

She is survived by her son: Jeffrey Light (Kristine Heefner) of Aldie, VA; granddaughters: Megan Light of Tampa, FL, Amanda Storey-Light (Daniel Storey) of Burlington, KY and Allison Heefner of Aldie, VA.

A service to celebrate Frances' life will be held Friday, January 17, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at Dudley Memorial Chapel with Pastor Alan Ashworth officiating. Entombment will follow at Grandview Memory Mausoleum. Friends may visit with the family Thursday evening, January 16, 2020 at Dudley Memorial from 6:00-8:00 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, it's the family's request that donations be made to: The American Diabetes Association or The Alzheimer's Association.
