EUGENE PHLEGAR WHITE

Eugene "Gene" P. White, 90 of Bluefield, VA, passed away Sunday, September 19, 2021. Born in Bluefield, VA, "Gene" was the son of the late Roy S. and Elsie McGuire White.  He was a member of Graham Christian Church where he served as a deacon, an elder and taught Sunday School.  He retired from Keebler Cookie Company after 30 years of service. A veteran of the Korean War, he served his country in the United States Army, attaining the rank of Master Sargent. He was a member of the VFW Post #9696.  Gene had a unique sense of humor and was a great storyteller.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and being in the outdoors.  He was a people person and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.  He had a love for children and animals.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two children: Larry White and Joey White; granddaughter: Erinn Hollo; siblings: Pierce White, Louise Howell and Doug White.

He will be lovingly missed by his wife of 69 years: Mary Frances Earls White of Tazewell, VA; his children: Bobby White and wife, Debra of Wilson, NC and Beth Irvin and husband, Jeff of Norwood, NC; Sister: Joann Fritz of Bluefield, VA; grandchildren: Isaac Irvin and wife, Camden, Emma Irvin and Nathan White; great-grandchildren: Malin, Audyn and Olivia Hollo.

A service to celebrate Gene's life will be held Wednesday. September 22 at Graham Christian Church at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. Gary Lyons officiating.  Interment will follow at Greenhill Memory Gardens.

Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday at the church from 12:00 P.M. until the hour of the service.
