ERNEST TRAVIS SPARKS

Ernest Travis Sparks of Princeton, West Virginia went home to be with the Lord on December 6, 2023. He was born in Yukon, West Virginia on September 21, 1937 to the late Everette and Oma Sparks. He was preceded in death by his wife, Deborah Sparks and three brothers E.C. Sparks, Swanson Sparks, and Darrell Sparks. He served in the United States Army Signal Corp in Fort Huachuca, Arizona from 1960 -1966. Upon discharge returned to Virginia and continued a career at Celanese Fibers. Ernest was an avid sports fan, especially West Virginia University football. He also loved the outdoors, hiking, and berry picking. His favorite past times included watching westerns, reading, writing and working crossword puzzles. An important accomplishment in his life was becoming a published author of his novel, The Dakotan.

He is survived by his sons Terry Sparks, Herk Sparks, Travis Sparks, Michael Sparks, Jeff Clagg, and Randy Sparks. His survivors also include a large number of grandchildren and great children loved dearly by Ernest.

A service to celebrate Ernest's life will be held on Monday, December 11, 2023 at 3:00P.M. at Carr Memorial Methodist Church with Pastor Gerald Roberts officiating.  The family will have a private burial at a later date.

Friends may visit with the family at the church on Monday from 2:00 P.M. until the hour of the service.
