Eric David Doby, 64, of Bluefield, VA went to be at peace on October 10th, 2023. Eric was the beloved son of the late James and Evelyn Doby of Bluefield, WV.

Eric, a graduate of Bluefield High School and Bluefield State University, and a life long resident of the two Bluefields, was a fiercely dedicated father and husband, as well as a friend to many. He devoted more than 23 years of his career to Dish Network as a System Administrator.

Eric was not only a loyal colleague, but was also truly committed to his family and hobbies outside of the office as well.  A few of his most treasured past times include golfing, watching his preferred NASCAR driver, Chase Elliot, and cheering on his favorite college team, the Virginia Tech Hokies. Eric was impeccably adept with the gift of gab and a comedic timing that would always leave the room  laughing and grinning. Although most people knew about Eric's sports related hobbies, not many people knew that he was an expert at playing the ham-bone and an aspiring grill-master best known for his ribs and wings.

Many are left behind to carry on his legacy including his wife, Vickie; children, Taylor (Nicholas) Moore and David Doby; sister, Jamie Baldwin; brother-in-laws Yogi  (Shelly) Sexton and Richard (Katharine) Sexton. Also, an ever growing list of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

On October 20th, from 1:00-2:00pm, we invite friends and family to join us at Dudley Funeral Home so that we can share in our favorite memories of Eric and the joy and laughs he brought us all. Services will be held immediately after the visitation at 2:00pm. To honor Eric's wishes, his body has been cremated. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to Dudley Funeral Home to help alleviate the burden of his untimely departure.
