EDNA ELIZABETH AKERS
Edna Elizabeth Akers of Bluefield, VA passed away Saturday, April 18, 2015 at Heritage Hall in Tazewell, VA. She was born September 17, 1923 in Pocahontas, VA and was the daughter of the late Charles and Ida Jane Sawyers Davis. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family and she loved being outside and working in her flower and vegetable gardens. She also loved watching her favorite television pastors on Sunday mornings. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy and she dearly loved each of them with a passion.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Lesco Akers; brothers, John, Bill and Charles Davis and a sister, Thelma Fields.
She will be greatly missed by her children, Pauline Hardy, Hazel and Randy Williams and Joe and Pat Akers; special granddaughter, who stayed by her side for several months, Sharon Thompson; other grandchildren are Ron Smith, Rita Smith and Joe and Jared Akers; also several great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.
A service to celebrate her life will be held Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Dudley Memorial Chapel with Rev Tony Ellis officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens with her grandchildren serving as pallbearers. Friends are invited to visit with the family Monday April 27, 2015 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Dudley Memorial Mortuary.
