EDITH JANE BYRD

Edith Jane Byrd, 84 of Bluefield, Virginia passed away in her sleep at her home in Pulaski, Virginia, June 5, 2023.  She was a hard-working woman throughout her entire life.  It was often said in admiration that she could "outwork a man".  She was a Christian woman of deep faith in our Lord, Jesus Christ.

She loved her family with renowned passion.  She was the devoted daughter of the late Raleigh and Ruby Stowers Woody.  She was the faithful Wife of Brady Byrd who preceded her in in death in 1992.  She was the dedicated Mother of David Byrd, of Aylett, Virginia and her Grandchildren, Sean Byrd of Aylett, Virginia, Elizabeth Byrd of Richmond, Virginia, Brandon Byrd of Thomasville, NC. and Seth Byrd of Thomasville, NC.  She adored her brothers and sisters.  She was preceded in death by Sisters Peggy Burnopp and Goldie Jarrett, and one Brother, Virgil Woody. Those left to cherish her memory are her siblings: Kenneth Woody and wife, Jane of Ceres, WV, Jimmy Woody and wife, Bonnie of Bluefield, VA, Freda Coomes of Lashmeet, WV and Freddie Woody and wife, Karen of Bluefield, VA, beloved Niece, Patsy Woody along with many wonderful Nephews and Nieces that brought joy into her life.

A service to celebrate Edith's life will be held Friday, June 9, 2023, at Dudley Memorial Chapel at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor James Bassett officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens where her nephews will serve as pallbearers. Friends are invited to visit with the family Friday, June 9, 2023, at Dudley Memorial from 12-2 P.M.
