EDDY RAY STAPLES
Eddy Ray Staples, 85 of Falls Mills, VA, went home to be with the Lord, surrounded by all his family, Monday, December 5, 2016 following a short illness. Born April 18, 1931, he was the son of the late James Clifton Staples and Sally Hatfield Staples Vest. He was a member of the Hillbilly Bass Masters for 15 years. He loved to hunt and fish and was a self-employed painter for 50 years. Eddy was a member of the Jesus Church at Big Vein and loved music and playing the tambourine. He had a smile that could light up a room and was a loving and compassionate man, especially to his wife. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother: A.B. Staples and grandson: Jacob Powers.
He will be lovingly and affectionately remembered by the love of his life and wife of 66 years: Freda Staples; his children: Jimmy Staples and wife, Kay, Judy Cundiff and husband, Harry, Tammy Powers, Sally Staples and Sam, Dana Cox and husband, Mark all of Falls Mills, VA; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sister: Doris Wallace of Kingsport, TN; several nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate Eddy's life will be held Friday, December 9, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Dudley Memorial Chapel with Minister Dean Kennedy officiating. Burial will follow at the Harry Cemetery, Falls Mills, VA. Pallbearers will be Randy Ernest, Troy Powers, Junior Looney, Chris Page, Dean Hall and Steve Whitt. Friends may visit with the family Thursday, December 9, 2016 at Dudley Memorial from 6-8 p.m.
