DONNA GAIL ROTEN

Donna Gail Roten,68, of Bluefield VA, passed away August 10th 2022, at home after a long illness. She's preceded in death by her mother & father, Jes Frankiln Roten and Dorsey Lee Sarver Roten of Bluefield VA.

Born January 12, 1954, in Berea, Ohio but was quickly brought back to Bluefield by her parents and that is what she considered her hometown. She was a registered nurse for 35 years and was a proud graduate of Bluefield State College and Graham High School.

She's survived by her daughter, Jessica Slade Akers & grandson, Dakota Akers, both of Bluefield VA, her baby brother & best friend Mark Roten & wife Anna and their daughters Amber Thibodeau & Melissa Roten all of Bluefield, VA. Her older brother Danny Roten & wife Linda of Yulee, FL and their daughters Kimberly & Marla and her older sister Connie Goad & husband Jerry of Hillsville, VA.

She loved teaching her grandson and niece to drive. She was a fantastic teacher even when her eyesight started to fail. She loved hiking and camping when she was younger but as her health started to fail, she enjoyed sitting on her covered front porch listening to the summer storms, watching her hummingbirds and hanging with service dog Rue and most of all visiting with her baby brother & sister-n-law, watching her daughter do yard work and listening to music. She was an avid music and film fan loving all genres of both.

In keeping with her last known wishes, she will be cremated and there will be a celebration of her life later at her home of 45 years. In lieu of flowers, just be kind to the ones you love and remember the good times you had with her.
