DONNA JEAN ROBERTSON HOLSTON
Donna Jean Robertson Holston of Bluefield, Virginia passed away at the age of 71 years at her daughter's home in Winder, Georgia on September 20, 2016. What started off as a battle against lung cancer turned into a war against her heart. She was born on June 22, 1945 in Fordwick, Virginia to Stephen Goodman Robertson and Mildred Catherine Harris Robertson.
Donna was an active member of East River Church for over 20 years. She was always there to lend a supporting hand or to just listen. Self-employed as a Certified Nurses Aid, she spent her life offering care to those who could no longer care for themselves. However, it may be her creative side that is best remembered. From clay sculptures, handmade jewelry, wood carvings, paintings and all sorts of crafts, Donna could see the beauty in everyday items and turned them into works of art. The sculpture pieces that she made of her children and grandchildren will be cherish legacies to this beautiful angel on earth.
Preceded in death by her father and mother, as well as her oldest brother, Alton (Buzzy) Robertson and oldest sister, Betty Mae Robertson Wetherby. Donna will be leaving behind her ex-husband and brother in Christ Jerry Mitchel Holston, her two youngest siblings, Janice Elouise Robertson Riley and Timothy Robertson. She is also leaving behind her three children, Sherry Lynn Holston Epperson, David Mitchel Holston and Christopher Lee Holston. As well as their spouses, Joseph, Sandy and Sarah, respectively, who she always thought of as her children.
Donna is also leaving behind her five precious grandchildren, Brittany Dawn Epperson, Joshua Adam Holston and his wife Kaitlyn, Zachery Caleb Holston, Jacob Isaiah Holston, and Isabella Autumn Holston. In addition, a great grandchild due in January 2017 that she was so looking forward to meeting. Never forget: "Bushel and a Peck, and a hug around the neck"—your mom/granny will always love you!!!
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at New Beginning Community Church, located at Rt 52 Airport Square Plaza in Brushfork, WV. Friends and Family from 1-2pm and a Memorial service from 2-3pm. Family and friends are invited to come and share their memories of Donna. Rejoice and know that she is waiting for us. Financial donations in lieu of flowers would be greatly appreciated to help cover the cost of medical expenses incurred during her brief battle against cancer and ultimately congestive heart failure.
