DONNA SIMMONS GLOVER
Donna Simmons Glover, 78 of Bluefield, WV, passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2015 with her family at her side. She was born February 17, 1937 in Bluefield, WV and was the daughter of the late Raleigh and Ruth Kirby Simmons. She taught school in Tazewell County for 30 years, retiring in 1997. She was beloved by her students. She loved her profession and took pride in being able to help each student in whatever their need might have been. When it came to her two sons, she was the epitome of selflessness. Everything she did was centered around her two sons and her grandson, who was her pride and joy. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She suffers no more and is reunited with her mother in God's House. We will see you soon.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: James Glover; brother: Randolph Simmons, infant brother: Neville Simmons and step-daughter: Karen Phillips.
She will be lovingly and affectionately remembered by her two sons: Johnny and Dickie Flinchum, both of Bluefield, WV; grandchildren: Colby Flinchum of Richmond, VA and Kellen Knight of Lynchburg, VA; her siblings: Edward Simmons and wife, Nancy of Bluefield, WV, Marcella Scott and husband, Curtis of Tallahassee, FL, Patricia Wright of Tallahassee, FL, Al Simmons and wife, Marcia of Richmond, VA and Roy Simmons of Bluefield, WV; best friend: Diane Tibbs of Silver Springs, MD; cousins: Peggy and Bob Walk of Bluefield, VA.
A service to celebrate Donna's life will be held Sunday, October 11, 2015 at Cumberland Heights Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Jim Kestner officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens. Matt Scott, Jeff Russell, Tommy Grant, Stan Baldwin, Keith Beckett and Keith Hayes will serve as pallbearers. Friends are invited to visit with the family on Sunday, October 11, 2015 at Cumberland Heights Baptist Church from 1:00 p.m. until the hour of the service. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions in her memory to the National Cancer Society Chapter of your choice. Dudley Memorial is serving the Glover family.
