David Wayne Bailey, 62, of Roanoke, VA passed away suddenly on Tuesday, November 8 th, 2022. David's family takes great comfort in knowing he lived his life as a Christian and is receiving his perfect reward.
David was born October 16 th 1960 in Bluefield, WV to James Elwood "Woody" Bailey and Betty Bailey. He is preceded in death by his father, his daughter, Nikki Dione Bailey, brother Thomas Aaron Rorrer, and aunt, Wanda "Cookie" Rorrer. He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Lisa Bailey, his daughter, Cortni Bailey Smith (Ben), and their children, Greyson & Abigail of Blue Ridge Va., his mother, Betty Bailey Rorrer (Jim) of Falls Mills, Va. , brothers James "Jimmy" Bailey (Cindy) of Falls Mills, Va. , and Alex Rorrer (Gena) of Oshkosh WI, sister-in-law Toni Johnson, nephews Jarrod Bailey (Callista), Tommy and Frankie Rorrer, nieces Kaila Taylor (Robbie), and Jessica Davis, and great nieces Kennedy, Willow, Harper, and great nephew Porter. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends whom he loved dearly.
David was born in Bluefield, West Virginia. Growing up David attended Macedonia United Methodist Church. He was a 1979 graduate of Graham High School and played football under Coach Glen Carlock. He attended Bluefield State College (University). He lived for many years in Bluefield, VA with his family and attended Graham Christian Church and sang in the choir. David and his family moved to Roanoke, Virginia in 1996. David coached softball for the Virginia Extreme Force for 10 years and had the opportunity to encourage and build up his team who loved him just as much.
David worked as a Senior Field Service Technician at Mitsubishi Electric Power Products, Inc. for the past 16 years. He had many years of experience in the electrical industry and truly enjoyed his profession and those he worked with along the way.
David attended Lake Drive Church of Christ in Vinton, VA.
David experienced immeasurable joy for the past eight years being a Pawpaw to his grandson and granddaughter. His face lit up a room in his grandchildren's presence, and he revolved his life around being the grandfather that every child deserves.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 on November 18th, 2022, at Dudley Memorial Mortuary on Virginia Ave., in Bluefield, VA. David's funeral will be held at Dudley on Saturday at 11:00 with interment to follow at Grandview Memory Gardens.
Services will be officiated by Evangelist Tommy Blewett, with Pastor Donnie Bailey assisting.
