Obituary

CRYSTAL LEANN SHRADER

Crystal Shrader, age 39 of Bluefield, VA, passed away on April 18, 2023 following a brief, yet vicious and courageous battle with cancer.

She was the daughter of Deborah Davis of Bluefield, VA and the late Jeffrey Shrader. In addition to her mother, she leaves behind two children, Brooklyn Hood age 21 (and fiancée Brandon Scott) of Bluefield, VA and Cory Hood, 17, of the home.  She also leaves behind her sister and best friend, Cynthia Simmons (and husband Benjamin Simmons) of Max Meadows, VA, her big brother and father figure Jason Hagy (and wife Heather Hagy) as well as niece Rya and nephew Ryan of Panama  City, FL. Also left to cherish her memory are her nieces Shaylen Shrader, 16, and Sadie Martin, 9, who she adored and treated as her own. Crystal also leaves two grandchildren, Elijah Scott, (her little man) age 4 and Violet Scott, (her little firecracker)age 10 months. She also leaves behind many friends and friends of her children who she also treated as her own. There are too many of those to list, however, Chloe Allen, childhood friend of her daughter Brooklyn, held a special place in her heart. Lee Hood, her ex husband, is also left with fond memories of Crystal and the time they spent together, as well as the rest of his family. Special friends Bobby Mullins and Tara Mullins also greatly impacted her life, as she did theirs.

Crystal was a loving, caring, and nurturing person with a gentle soul. She devoted her life to her family. She was a homemaker and so much more. She was the one who could fix anything. Whether it be a pipe leaking or a scraped knee. She was the solution to any problem, big or small. She was affectionately known as "Teetal", a nickname given to her by her niece Shaylen when she was learning to talk and couldn't pronounce her name, and it stuck. She loved her mom, kids, sister, brother, nieces, nephew, and grandbabies more than anything in the world. She adored watching her son Cory play various sports. She didn't like to miss a practice or game, even when she didn't feel well. She was so proud of him. She was also immensely proud of her daughter Brooklyn, who is on her journey of becoming a nurse. She also devoted most of her time to her nieces and grandchildren. She was loved by so many and will be missed dearly.

Crystal will be cremated as per her wishes. Services will be held at Virginia Avenue United Methodist Church on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at 6pm.
