CLINTON "RED" LAYNE, JR.
Clinton "Red" Layne, Jr, 81, of Bluefield, VA, passed away Monday, October 20, 2025 at Heritage Hall Tazewell. Born in Pike County, KY, he was the son of the late Clinton Layne, Sr and Ramona Daniels Layne. Red, as he was affectionately known, had worked for a varied number of industries throughout his working career. He enjoyed fishing earlier in his life. He was best known for his intense, passionate love for animals of all kinds. He was responsible for the rescue of many animals and seeing that they were transported to good homes all over the East coast. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Donna Amburgy and his nephew, Shannon Layne.
He will be remembered by his brother: David Layne of N. Tazewell, VA; nephews: Greg Layne, Andy Hrovatic and Mark Hrovatic and their families. The family would like to Thank Caris Healthcare Hospice for their care of Red during the last days of his life. A very special Thanks to Lori and Scottie Salyers for being loyal friends and helping with his care over much of his life.
A graveside service will be held Friday, October 24, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at Maple Hill Cemetery Chapel with Pastor Jeff Stacy officiating. There will be no public visitation. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to be at the cemetery no later than 10:45 A.M.
