CLAUDE ROBERT MEEKS
Claude Robert Meeks of 112 Jefferson Street, Bluefield, VA, went home to be with the Lord Monday, June 29, 2015. Born March 22, 1929, in Pocahontas, VA, he was the son of the late John Arbie and Cora Catron Meeks. He married Doris Coeburn on August 29, 1953. Claude served in the US Army, worked on the railroad, was a coalminer and worked 39 years at Sealy Mattress Company. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister: Roxie Bader, Hattie Thomas and Beulah Peery; brothers: Lathore Meeks, Buddy Meeks, Leslie Meeks and Edward (Junior) Pawley.
He is survived by his wife of 60 plus years, Doris Meeks; sons: David W Meeks of Winfield, WV Therrian (Terry) Allen Meeks and wife Nancy, Kenneth C Meeks and Matthew Peery all of Bluefield, VA; sisters: Lenny Ganey of Indiana and Florence Overstreet of Florida; half-brothers: Douglas, Billy and Buddy Pauley; grandchildren: William (Bill) Meeks of Wallington, KY, Tonya Meeks of Blandchester, OH, Angela Meeks of Troy MI, Hope and Tiffany Nicole Meeks of Luray, VA, David and Michael Meeks of Bluefield, VA and Katie Peery of Bluefield, VA.
A service to celebrate Claude's life will be held Thursday, July 2, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Dudley Memorial Chapel with Pastor Buck Hagerman and Pastor Kathy Hagerman officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Larry Hagerman, Rick Farley, Mike Anders, Richard Catron, Steve Beavers, Craig Mitchem and Marvin Akers.
Friends are invited to visit with the family Wednesday evening at Dudley Memorial Mortuary from 6-8 p.m.
