CLAUDE DANNY "FROGGY" SHRADER
Claude Danny "Froggy" Shrader, 70 of Bluefield, VA, (Bailey Switch) passed away Thursday, May 31, 2018 at the Salem VA Medical Center, following a brief illness. Danny had been a resident of Virginia Veterans Care Center for the last 2 ½ years. He was a beloved brother, uncle, cousin, nephew and friend and was of the Christian faith. He had a kind and gentle spirit and would help anyone in need. Danny was the son of the late Claude Pyott Shrader and Dorothy Freeman Shrader Carroll. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister: Sherri Lynn. He was a graduate of Tazewell High School and was a disable Veteran, having served in the Vietnam War, 25 th Infantry Division of the United States Army. He served his country with honor from October 4, 1966 to January 29, 1969. He earned several medals, including the Purple Heart and the Army Commendation Medal for Meritorious service.
Those left to cherish Danny's memory are his brother: Joe A. Shrader (Eve) of Bluefield, VA; sisters: Janice C. Wilcox (Cecil) of Statesville, NC, Tina A. Bowden (Lee) of Bluefield, VA, and Ruth Groseclose of Tazewell, VA; many nieces, nephews and friends.
A service to celebrate Danny's life will be held Monday, June 4, 2018 at Dudley Memorial Chapel at 12:00 P.M. with Rev. Russ Hatfield officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens. J.W. Groseclose, Adam Shrader, Jonathan Shrader, Mike Pugh, Jaymee Bowden, Mark Nash, Paul Little and Steve Pugh will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Darryl Sheppard, Charlie Hinkle, Billy Williams, Jimmy Billips ,Ceil Wilcox, Randy Bailey, Christopher Shrader and Eddie Dickerson. Military Grave Rites will be conducted by the VFW Post #9696 and the Pocahontas American Legion Post #14. Friends may visit with the family on Monday at Dudley Memorial from 11:00 A.M. until the hour of the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be to the VFW Post #9696, 331 Love Lane, Bluefield, VA 24605 or the Bailey United Methodist Church, 1420 Bailey Switch Road, Bluefield, VA 24605.
