CLARENCE LEE "SAM" PACE

Clarence Lee "Sam" Pace, 75, of Falls Mills, VA, left his earthly home for heaven on Sunday, May 07, 2023. Born in Ashland, KY, on April 02, 1948, he was the son of the late Paul C. and Mildred Pace of Ypsilanti, MI. Sam was a member of Macedonia United Methodist Church. He was employed by Ford Motor Company in Ypsilanti and served in the U.S. Army in S. Korea (DMZ) during the capture of USS Pueblo, with the 7 th Infantry Division, 3/32 nd Infantry. He was a member of the U.S. Army Pistol Team and forever an expert marksman. After moving to Falls Mills, he was employed by Bluefield, Virginia Police Department, the Tazewell County Sheriff's Department as a deputy and Investigator/Detective and at Keen Mountain Correctional Center. Sam received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminology from SWVA Community College and Bluefield State College.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 56 years: Libby Bailey Pace; his sons: Greg of Charlottesville, VA and Kevin of the home; his only granddaughter: Anna of Peterstown, WV; his sister: Sherry (Bob) Neumann of Ypsilanti, MI.

Funeral service will be held at Dudley Memorial Chapel on Thursday, May 11, 2023 at 2:30 P.M. with Rev. Daniel Ingram, Rev Donnie Bailey and Rev. John Dudley officiating.  Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery. Military grave side rites will be conducted by the Mercer County Honor Guard.

Friends may visit with the family on Thursday at the funeral home from 1:30 P.M. until the hour of the service.
