CAROLYN "MAMMIE" FAYE FARMER
Carolyn "Mammie" Faye Farmer, 67 of Bluefield, VA, passed away Sunday, May 22, 2016 at Lexington Medical Center, West Columbia, SC. Born in Anawalt, WV, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Irene Griggs Mitchem. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandkids, who were her world. She was a loving, hardworking, single mother and a good friend. She was an avid shopper and a bargain finder with a compassionate heart, helping many who were less fortunate than she was. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 10 siblings.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters: Robin Ward and husband, Zayne of W. Columbia, SC, Jessica Atwell and husband, John of Bluefield, VA and Christy Martin of Lexington, SC; her siblings: Sandra Mitchem, with whom she had made her home for years, Roger Mitchem and wife, Charlotte of Bluefield, VA, Doug Mitchem and wife, Patricia of Bluefield, VA and "Preach" Mitchem and wife, Mary of Princeton, WV; grandchildren: Devin and Kevin Blankenship, Madison Goode and Jakob and Grayson Martin; many nieces and nephews; special friend: Frank Whittker of Princeton, WV.
A service to celebrate her life will be held Thursday, May 26, 2016 at Dudley Memorial Chapel at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Eddie Day officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Friends are invited to visit with the family on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at Dudley Memorial from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
