Bonita Jean
Proffitt
Sep 10, 1957 — Oct 4, 2024
Bluefield
Bonita (Bonnie) Jean Devor Proffitt, 67, of Bluefield, VA., passed away peacefully, October 4, 2024, after a long illness, surrounded by family, at WVU Medicine Princeton Community Hospital, Princeton, WV.
Born on September 10, 1957, and a lifelong resident of Bluefield, Va., Bonnie is the daughter of William R. Devor and the late Charlotte G. Devor. She attended Graham High School, class of 1975, and Southwest Community College. Bonnie's early work years began at Heck's Department store. From there she joined the Walmart team and retired early then later worked for the Foot and Ankle Clinic under Dr. Thomas Donatelli. Bonnie attended the Tip Top Church of God in North Tazewell, VA and had committed her life to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Bonnie (aka BonBon) had the most beautiful smile, the kindest heart, loved her family deeply, enjoyed travelling to the beach (when she could), watching favorite TV shows, listening, dancing to 70's music and enjoying her most favorite food in the world, Mexican, at her favorite restaurant, El Patio. But her absolute joy came from holding and playing with her great-grandchildren. She will always be loved, never forgotten, and forever missed. As a final act of love from her family, Bonnie gave the gift of life through an organ donation.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Stephanie Haley, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Pat and Butch Slade, and their daughter Susan Slade, brother-in-law's David Proffitt and Kenny Durham, father and mother-in-law, Frank and Clara Proffitt, grandparents, Roy and Eva Devor and Maria Garza.
Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Ronnie Proffitt, granddaughter Brooke Haley (Dave), of Monroe, NC., and grandson Jacob Haley of Bluefield, Va. Great-grandchildren, Easton Haley, Ivory Knight, and Kayana Haley. Sisters, Christina Neal (Jack) of Swansboro, NC., Frances (Devor) Durham and brother, Rusty Devor of Bluefield, Va. Sister-in-laws, Judy Harrison (Bobby) and Connie Hicks (Anthony), nieces, Brandy Price, Kim Cordle (Rick), Teresa Proffitt, Sherri Hamden (Devin), Carrie Hicks; great-nieces Chloe Allen, Kiowa Clarida and great-nephew, Willie Clarida; aunt, Wanda Waddle of Galax, VA., uncle, James Garcia of San Antonio, TX., a host of cousins and former son-in-law, Johhny Haley (Renee).
