Billie Ina Elmore Owensby, 96, passed away peacefully at home July 17th in Bluefield Va.

She was born September 10,1928 in Knoxville Tn and was the daughter of William Edgar Elmore and Nina Biddle Elmore

Billie married her soulmate Roger H. Owensby Sr. in 1948.  She was the mother to five children.  She worked as a nurse aide and transcription secretary for many years at Bluefield Regional Medical Center.  She and her husband enjoyed bowling and Bluefield baseball games.  She was an avid Tennessee sports fan who watched football and basketball games, with a particular favorite being the Tennessee woman's basketball team.  She enjoyed any games that included Tennessee, Va Tech and WVU.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, infant daughter, two brothers, two sisters, a daughter in law and a son in law.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Sheila Lambert of Rocky Gap, VA, Roger Owensby Jr of Bluefield, WV. Ruth Evans and husband Paul of Villa Rica, GA, Richard Owensby and wife Sheila of Bluefield VA and daughter Lynn Ratliff and husband Darrel of Monroe, NC. She is grandmother to 10, great grandmother to 7 and great great grandmother to 5. Extended family Lance, Anita and Gavin of Jacksonville, Fl and extended family and caretaker Jim, and her precious Shih Tzu Josie.

Billie will be profoundly missed and her legacy will continue to live on through her family.

A celebration of life will be July 25th at 1pm with visitation from 12 to 1pm at Dudley Memorial Mortuary in Bluefield Va. with burial to follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield Va.
