BILLIE RAE MCCLANAHAN
Billie Rae McClanahan, 79, of North Tazewell, VA, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, August 9, 2015 at Bristol Regional Medical Center. Born in Bluefield, WV, she was the daughter of the late Raymond Lawson and Ola Fern Proffitt Lawson Lockhart and Willie Lockhart, whom she affectionately knew as her father. Mrs. Billie was retired from GTE, where she was a hard worker and enjoyed her work as a telephone operator. She was a very friendly, outgoing lady with a radiant smile, never meeting a stranger. She loved all kinds of flowers and cooking for her family and others. She was devoted to her family, selfless in her attention and love for them. She was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church. In addition to her father, mother and step-father, she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, whom she adored and loved unconditionally, Billy Ray McClanahan, brothers, Kyle and Michael Lockhart and sister, Pay Vorgity. She will be lovingly and affectionately remembered by her sons: Darrell G McClanahan and wife Geneva of Pounding Mill, VA, Keith McClanahan of Cedar Bluff, VA and Greg McClanahan and wife Angie of Grundy, VA; brother: Dennis Lockhart and wife Terri of North Tazewell; sister: Ann Jarvis of North Tazewell, VA; brother-in-law: Dennis McClanahan and wife Rosemary of Bluefield, VA; grandchildren: Brittany, Daniel, Lauralynn, Kristina, Brad, Derek and Ethan McClanahan, Tanner Baldwin, Tim and Tony Puckett; great-grandchildren: Jaydin, Madison and Claire.
A service to celebrate Mrs. Billie's life will be held Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at Grandview Mausoleum Chapel at 11:00 a.m. with Rick Stacy officiating. Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at Grandview Mausoleum by 10:45 a.m. Pallbearers will be Brad McClanahan, Derek McClanahan, Daniel McClanahan, Randy McClanahan, Dennis McClanahan and Tanner Baldwin. Friends are invited to visit with the family Tuesday August 11,2015 at Dudley Memorial from 6-8 p.m.
