REV. BETTY LOUISA WRIGHT
Rev. Betty Louisa Wright, 77, of Bluefield, WV, passed away Sunday, February 15, 2026 at WVU Princeton Community Hospital. Born in Elkton, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Robert Cornelius and Ellen Anderson White. She was a graduate of Graham High School. Betty and her late husband, Rev. Morrice Crockett Wright, had served together in the ministry for 19 years at St. Moriah Church in Pocahontas, VA. She was a foster grandmother at Whitethorn Elementary School and was affectionately known as "Mother" at Calvary United Holy Church, where her daughter is pastor. She thoroughly loved and enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers: Bill White and Ray White; granddaughter: Anna Wright; great-grandchildren: Nicholas Jarvis, Mabeline Holleman and Zander Wright; son and daughters-in-law: Melvin Madison, Sharon Wright and Lois Wright.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Morris Wright and wife, Jamey of Radford, VA, Melissa Holleman of Bluefield, VA, George Wright of Bluefield, WV and Kimberly Madison also of Bluefield, WV; 10 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service to celebrate Betty's life will be held Friday, February 27, 2026 at Calvary United Holy Church, Highland Avenue, Bluefield, WV, at 1:00 P.M. with her daughter, Elder Kimberly Madison officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Friday at the church from 12:00 noon until the hour of the service.
In keeping with her wishes, her body will be cremated and her cremains will be buried beside her husband at Maple Hill Cemetery at a later date.
