BEN HALE MUNCY

Ben Hale Muncy of Bluefield, VA, died peacefully Monday, November 06, 2023 at Tazewell Community Hospital.  Born February 26, 1933 in Bland County, VA, he was the son of the late Andrew N. Muncy and Merle Muncy.  Ben was a graduate of Bland High School in Bland, VA.  He had served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War.  He was previously employed by McQuail's Furniture Store in Bluefield, WV for 29 years.  Ben retired from the Tazewell County Sheriff's Department after 21 years of service. He had also served on the Maple Hill Cemetery Commission for the Town of Bluefield, VA since 1998 and was appointed Chairman in 2013. Ben was a member of Graham Christian Church in Bluefield, VA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved son: Victor Joseph Muncy; sisters: Betty Snyder, Kathleen Scott and Sue Mills; brothers: A.N. Muncy, Jr, Jimmy Muncy and Bill Muncy.

He will be loving and affectionately missed by his wife of 66 years: Jane Smothers Muncy; sister: Sandy Marchal of Bluefield, WV.

A service to celebrate Ben's life will be held Thursday, November 09, 2023 at 3:00 P.M. at Dudley Memorial Chapel with Rev. Gary Lyons officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Tim Parris, Don Dye, Ray Jones, Harold Pruett and Jody Shrewsbury.  Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. D.G. Javier, Patricia Coleman, Vera Eaves and members of the Tazewell County Sheriff's Department.

Friends may visit with the family on Thursday from 2:00 P.M. until the hour of the service.
