Barbara Geroline Kidd Porter 81, of Bluefield VA. died on November 27, 2019

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Porter, and her parents, Otis and Dorothy Stacy Kidd

Gerrie was born August 23 1938, in Bastian VA. She attended Rocky Gap High School and Graham High School from which she graduated. She graduated from Lee Collage in Cleveland TN. and then from The Peabody School of Teaching at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. She was a school teacher for 36 years, ending her career teaching sixth grade at Graham Middle School in Bluefield, VA. She was an avid quilter, a reader, and loved nothing more than spending time with family. She attended the Bluefield Virginia Church of God for 46 years where she taught class, sang, and played piano.

She is survived by her brother, Garland (Sandra) Kidd of Roanoke VA. her son Mark (Cherie) Porter of Pewaukee WI , her daughter, Tonya (Kent) Davis of Lower Salem, OH. Her grandsons Jordan Porter, of Cedar Falls, IA. Joseph Porter of Pewaukee, WI. , granddaughters Katharine Davis of Marietta, OH. , and Elisabeth Davis of Lower Salem, OH.

A service to celebrate Gerrie's life will be held Friday December 6 2019 at Bluefield Virginia Church of God at 1:00 PM with Reverend Mark Tracy Porter officiating, friends may visit with the family from 12 noon till the hour of service, burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens
