BARBARA "JEAN" HALE
Barbara "Jean" Hale, 80, of Falls Mills, VA passed away Friday, July 8, 2016, in a Kingsport, TN hospital following a lengthy illness.
Jean was born December 16, 1935 in Bluefield, WV to the late Thomas and Clara Compton George. She married Charles D. ("C.D.") Hale, Sr on October 2, 1954, who remained the love of her life for 62 years. She had six children - Jeanie, Linda, Robin (d. 2014), Danny, Eddie and Shannon.
Jean loved cooking and was fond of saying that she hoped when she got to heaven that they "have a big kitchen for me to cook in". A lifelong member of Falls Mills Christian Church, she was a Sunday School teacher and in 2001, was presented the Mother of The Year award by the church. In addition to cooking, she was a meticulous home keeper and loved being with her family.
Jean is preceded in death by her parents; brother: William George and her daughter: Robin Welch. She leaves behind her husband, children, ten grandchildren, a few great grandchildren, a nephew: Tom; niece: Patty, a brother-in-law: McGinnis Hale and a very special sister-in-law: Barbara McCarty.
Per Jeans wishes, a graveside service to celebrate her life will be held on Monday, July 11, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA with Minister Frank Watkins officiating. There will be no visitation. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at Dudley Memorial Mortuary on Monday no later than 2:45p.m. Dudley Memorial is serving the Hale family.
