AMANDA KAY BYRD

Amanda Kay Byrd, 41 of Bluefield, VA, passed away at her home on Thursday, September 20, 2018. Born in Bluefield, WV, she was the daughter of Thomas Lee and Ruth Ann Proffitt Byrd of Yards, VA. Amanda was a 1996 graduate of Pocahontas High School.  She had worked at Bluefield Regional Medical Center in the cafeteria for over 14 years.  She was of the Pentecostal faith.  Amanda was family oriented and love being at home, caring for her husband and children.  She was happy and enjoyed life, with a smile for all.  She was loved by everyone and will be missed by all.  She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents and her maternal grandfather.

She will by lovingly and affectionately missed by her parents: Tommy and Ruth Byrd of Yards, VA; her best friend, soul mate and husband: Robert Adkins of Bluefield, VA; her children: Austin Lee Adkins, Shawn Jacob Adkins, Brandi Nicole Adkins and Evan Kirk Adkins all of the home; brother: Jason Byrd of Yards, VA; maternal grandmother: Elizabeth Proffitt of Pocahontas, VA; niece: Tina Byrd of Yards, VA; nephews: Zachary and Seth Byrd of Yards, VA; an extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

A service to celebrate Amanda's life will be held Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. at Dudley Memorial Chapel with Pastor John Blessings officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens with family and friends serving as pallbearers.  Friends may visit with the family on Monday, September 24, 2018 at Dudley Memorial from 6-8 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, it's the family's wish that donations be made to Dudley Memorial to help with the funeral expenses.
